Adler: Photogate or No Big Deal

Posted on 20 September 2010

The Burlington County Times reports that the Runyan – Adler race for NJ-3 is turning ugly.  A recent incident was cited:

The campaigns clashed again last week over an incident earlier this month involving an Adler campaign volunteer, who was seen taking photographs outside Runyan’s home.

Runyan’s campaign claimed that the volunteer was trespassing on the property and that the man scared the candidate’s 8-year-old daughter. Runyan’s wife, Loretta, followed the photographer to Adler’s campaign office and contacted police.

Adler’s campaign claimed the volunteer remained on the public street and was photographing only the exterior of the house.

A copy of a criminal complaint filed by Runyan’s wife was not available Friday.

Okay folks.  There are always two sides to every story.  And maybe this was some innocent misunderstanding.  However, whatever this person was doing on their property caused an issue with their child and motivated Runyan’s wife to get in the car and follow the photographer to Adlers campaign headquarters…and then proceed to the police.  That is the action of a motivated (or aggravated) Mom in protection mode not a campaign strategist.

I wonder how Adler would feel if armies of volunteers on the other side decided to follow him and his family around with cameras (on public streets not private property of course).  I think we all know the answer.

Congressman Adler.  Apologize for the stupidity of your campaign worker and tell them next time not to be so obvious as to scare the kids.  It’s what an honorable person would do.
